This is the small version of the goat cart that was made for the city of Bellingham for their Public Market. The goat is an excellent example of the domesticated animal reflecting the imprint of humans through the shape of the body. The goat is also a fitting image for a Public Market because the goat is the source of so many products. It is dairy, wool, leather, meat, and sometimes a means of transportation.

Barred Owl

I made this owl while I was on a teaching residency at Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina. They have a small zoo of native animals. The barred owl seemed to like to model. He was not shy; he shared back at me with his liquid, black eyes, and sometimes turned for me so that I could see the other views. I know that it is anthropomorphizing, but they seem to look back at you with understanding. It is no wonder they are the animal embodiment of wisdom as far back as ancient Greece when they were the familiar of Athena.
