There are differences which are caused by something that is not depicted in the sculpture, namely the arms. In Male Torso I, the arms of the model were clasped above his head. Minotaur I: Emerging Bronze with Limestone Base 28 x 9 x 9 Minotaur is a half man and half bull from Greek mythology, usually depicted by the head of a bull on the body of a man. Across time, this image has been used as a complex image of the animal nature of man. I depict the head with only small indications of bull features in the face. The bull is not something we can tame. The bases are a block, suggesting a block from the containing labrynth, just as it seems to contain the lower half of the sculpture. There are four different sculptures of the minotaur, all about the same size. Each suggests a different aspect of the man/animal duality. Minotaur I: Emerging, suggests that the duality is a dialog from which the individual emerges.
